Truck crash in Auburn snarls traffic on Mass. Pike during morning commute

A truck crash late Tuesday night in Auburn which caused leaking battery acid forced the closure of an on-ramp to the westbound side of the Massachusetts Turnpike during the morning commute, officials said.

At 11:35 p.m. Tuesday, Massachusetts State Police responded to reports of a truck rollover. Upon arrival, troopers found a 53-foot box trailer on its left side in the left lane of the ramp, according to state police.

The driver of the truck had minor injuries and was transported by Auburn EMS, according to state police.

At 12:05 a.m., the entire ramp was closed due to battery acid leaking into the road from a large cargo of batteries that the truck had been carrying, said state police.
