Once a leader in solar, Mass. now trails behind

A recent analysis found the state’s ranking for solar installations had fallen to 27th in the nation in 2023. It’s a major shift in the narrative for Massachusetts , which has long been a national leader in solar adoption, thanks in large part to an innovative incentive program that drove early developments across the state. But now, it’s a different narrative: there’s very little room on the electric grid for new projects to connect.
