Promising gene therapy could treat childhood deafness

The early results, investigators say, could open the door for future use of gene therapies to treat childhood deafness caused by mutations in more than 150 other genes. Up to 60 percent of cases of hearing loss in babies has genetic causes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
